Château de Colliers

The Castle Colliers welcomes you in five rooms or suites charming and comfortable, each with its particularities. Four open onto the terrace and offer a unique view of the Loire, the last great wild river in Europe. The fifth overlooks the courtyard of the castle and the large avenue of lime trees bicentennial passage to go to Chambord.

Our main goal is to make every effort to ensure that your stay is as short as it is unforgettable. We are at your disposal to make you feel at home throughout your stay.

This castle which has two wings of the XVII century, was enlarged in 1751 by the Chevalier de Béla, former spy of King Louis XV in Sweden to discover the secrets of the artillery manufacturing quality. At the time of her installation at Colliers in the company of Mademoiselle de Chauloy, her mistress, he was Chamberlain to Stanislas Leszczynski, King of Poland in exile in Chambord. Then it was the property of the Marquis de Vaudreuil, former governor of Louisiana, then French province and Canada-New France. After the death of the Marquis de Montcalm on September 14, 1759 in Quebec City and the defeat of the French troops, he was accused of treason and imprisoned in the Bastille. He was released after a trial that concluded his innocence and then bought Colliers to spend the last years of his life there, with his brother. In the absence of descendants, the ancestors of the family of Gélis bought it in 1783. Their descendants still remain there.

Ideal starting point to discover the countless nuggets that punctuate the region, you will combine cultural outings and bucolic outings. At the mercy of the stormy currents of the wild Loire departing from Saint Dyé on a boat of the Loire, to approach closer and the fauna and the flora or, carried by the winds of a hot-air balloon flight, from Colliers, the morning or in the evening, discover from above and Chambord and the Loire.

The castle of Colliers is a family property whose successive heirs have preserved the authenticity. The very structure of the buildings, their furnishing, nothing seems to have moved and yet. The Château de Colliers has undergone many changes over the years even if the last major transformations were made in the early twentieth century by the grandfather of the current owners. It is an inhabited castle that lives thanks to the energy that its current owners deploy to maintain to this place its side some can out of time. That's what makes it so charming. It is also what will make you love it. Here come above all passionate history and architecture, wilderness that offer the banks of the Loire, the surrounding forests, Sologne nearby. But it is this long history that has made France and that we like to tell the many French and foreign guests who come to Colliers. Singular characters and some very famous ones owned Colliers. Their story feeds the long evenings spent around a table of hosts that we like to prepare and share.

Accessibility

Only the Marquis de Vaudreuil family suite located on the ground floor of the Château and on one level with the courtyard is able to accommodate people in wheelchairs. However, this does not make it a suite adapted to all disability situations. The shower is in the bath and the bathroom does not allow to return with an armchair. Also it is recommended to people with reduced mobility (PRM) to contact our manager beforehand to validate the uses and services available according to one or the other of the rooms that make up this suite or any other room upstairs. We have undertaken a reflection as well as adjustments that should be made in this area and choices will be made to improve the PMR reception.
